  Lyrics and notes available here
The Helene Engel Trio began in Montreal in 2005 and has since been performing with their show "Travelling Notes," a voyage of Jewish vocal music from all corners of the world. Through her years of Judaic research and exploration, Helene Engel has brought together a broad repertoire of melodies, music, and texts in Yiddish, Hebrew, Judeo-Spanish, Russian, French, English and other languages. The show visits those little but precious moments of Jewish life full of flavour, humour, melancholy and joy, including Helene's own compositions.

This CD is a panorama of the "Notes de voyage" (Travelling Notes) live show. Henri's masterful skills with multi-track recording and sound engineering are highlight with his playing simultaneously the accordion, bass, percussions and even guitar, as well as a full chassidic choir! Rabbi Elimelekh may be able to explain these recording technology feats by some little-known verses from the Torah.
Ot azoy!

Helene Engel Trio, with

Henri Oppenheim
Ex- mathematician, Henri drifted since 1997 into accordion. He has directed the klezmer

group Kleztory for four years, performing with the Montreal and the Quebec Symphony

Orchestras. Expanding the scope of his musical experience through composition,

arrangements, directing, accompaniment, and even production, he has collaborated

with Helene Engel since 2004.
Marie-Neige Lavigne
Classically-trained violinist Marie-Neige Lavigne is comfortable in many musical styles,

from Gypsy jazz to the contemporary compositions of her trio “Cord’Âmes,” while granting

ample space to the Jewish and Quebecois folklores. As she said to Helene Engel when they

began their collaboration in 2005, “The music of the world breathes through the strings

of my violin.”
